Are photography classes worth the expense?
I am a big proponent of education, and up until a few years ago, I would have absolutely encouraged a new photographer to enroll in courses. But now with the advent of such excellent online resources as strobist.com and creativelive.com, you can get a great education, right online!
What type of studio lighting is the best for taking photos?
I have collected so many different manufacturers of lighting over the years, but my go-to almost all the time is Profoto (profoto.com) gear. While pricey, it is excellent.

What type of photography sells the best?
The photo industry is quite competitive at all levels, so to differentiate yourself, you need to really have a passion for your subject.
You can make money in any specialization, but as a general rule, taking pictures of weddings will be more lucrative than taking pictures of whales and bears.
